FFF Racing by ACM notched up two further podium positions this weekend (23-24 September) as the Super Trofeo Asia Series visited Shanghai International Circuit.
The Chinese-based team made a few changes as they gear up for the World Finals at the end of the season at Imola. The team, therefore, opted to pair Jack Bartholomew and Richard Goddard in the #5 Pro-entry, while Carrie Schreiner was joined by Armaan Ebrahim in the #50 Pro-Am car.
The new pairings were greeted with very tricky conditions at the Chinese venue and it was Schreiner and Ebrahim meanwhile quickly got their partnership off to a strong start, claiming a Pro-Am class podium position in the first race, ninth overall.
The second race was even better with a second position in class, sixth overall to cap of a really impressive debut for the new line-up.
In the sister #5 Lamborghini, Bartholomew and Goddard finish in fifth position overall, in what was a strong debut as they worked together for the first time. The second race was brought to an early conclusion following a big accident for Patrick Kujala, who escaped without injury. At the time of the incident, #5 car ran in sixth position overall, fourth in class.
This was frustrating for the team as they believed that had the race ran at pace to its conclusion, they could have finished as high as third on the track. As it was, the race finished behind the safety car as barrier repairs were required.
Bartholomew moves third in the Pro standings with 69 points. In the Pro-Am standings, Schreiner’s run of form moves her to third in the standings, as the team now prepare for the World Finals at Imola.
“The competition was especially tough this weekend as several teams brought in some very experienced drivers,” said FFF Racing Sporting Director Alf Boarer. “With the likes of Edoardo Liberati and Andrea Amici, who won the GT3 2016 championship for us here last year, it was a very strong field.
“This combined with the weather, and a little bad luck with the safety car, made it especially tricky for our young drivers. They maximised the opportunities available to them and we leave with some good results as both pairings worked well together for the first time. Now we all look forward to the last round of the championship at Imola.”
