FFF Racing by ACM secured their best result of the season at the weekend (13-15 October) in what was the final round of Blancpain GT Series Asia held at the new Zhejiang Circuit in China. It was the opening round that saw Aidan Read start a fine third before teammate Alberto Di Folco recorded a season-best finish of second in difficult conditions.

Wet conditions, very much the theme of the weekend, greeted The FFF Racing Team for the Saturday’s opening race and as a consequence, the first two laps were behind the safety car. Read lined up third in the #1 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 and in difficult conditions, the race got underway with the front three runners running nose to tail.

Read’s break came as the #86 Audi went for the lead, taking the place from the #Lamborghini and with momentum lost, Read was also able to muscle his way through to take second position. Not content with second, Read continued to challenge Aditya Patel for the race lead before pitting for the mandatory driver change.

With rain starting to fall harder once again, Di Folco put in a good stint as he continued to hound Mitchell Gilbert for the lead but in the deteriorating conditions, opted to preserve his second position in the final laps before recording the team’s best finish of the season, just five seconds behind the race winner.

Sunday’s race proved to be even wetter and starting 11th, proved to be a tougher event for the young driver pairing. Di Folco took the first stint both gaining and losing ground in the conditions. Read took over in 11th position mid-distance and moved tenth with 13 minutes remaining. There were further gains towards the end of the race before he took the chequered flag in seventh position overall.

“It’s been a very good weekend,” said FFF Racing Team Owner Sean Fu Songyang. “Our good qualifying run helped us achieve our best result of the season, so we’re delighted with second overall with two young Silver drivers who are both learning all of the time. Aidan made a good start and we pitted at the perfect time in the pit window. We had a few issues to manage, but Alberto did in the conditions to keep pace and bring the car home.

“Race two was so difficult for everyone but we’ve finished the season on a high and have shown what the team and drivers are capable of in such a high-level championship. We’re now happy to start our preparations for next season.”
